Luckily, in Florida, there aren't many squatters rights. If you have a squatter, here is what you should do:
Gather Important Information
It is recommended that you gather the following information:
- How the squatters got access. Was it forced entry?
- Squatters contact information if you have it
- Video and photos of the squatters in the home
- Any attempts to have them leave
- Property deed and any other proof of ownership
Call The Authorities
Now you will need to call the local authorities and let them know of the situation. They will go to the property and remove the squatters.
In Florida there was a most recent bill signed, the HB621, which allows the Landlord to request assistance from the local authorities in removing the squatters.
